I looked at the photo currently on the frontpage of a severed head on a tank in WWII. I regret this. If you folks could maybe recommend a bunch of cute colorful art so I can go to bed tonight without totally morbid thoughts, that'd be awesome.

Species identity crisis
DAE have this issue? So I've been a fur for years now, but I have changed my sona very, very often. This is mostly because I either don't feel okay with it, had a bad experience using the sona, or it's "not original".
I went from being an otter, then a jackal, then a goat, then a deer, then a dog, and now I'm a cat. I feel so silly going to so many of them and then finally feeling comfortable with this one, wondering if anyone else has gone through the same.

Cat Is Out of the Bag about His Being a Furry ... Now What?
I'm going to start off by saying that I appreciate what you do. When I go to Yahoo! answers I mainly get trolls. Anyways, I've been involved with the fandom since 2010, but I refuse to publically identify as a furry because my friends and family aren't the most open-minded people. But I can't keep it a secret anymore because my mother found furry pornography on my computer, I'm constantly teased by my friends, and there's a lot of tension between me and my mother. What should I do?

Hi, David,
Unlike a lot of furries who write and ask how to come out to friends and family, we have the reverse situation here: the cat is already out of the bag, so is there a way to stuff it back in?
Short answer: no, not really, not unless you declare it was just a passing fancy and you stop looking at furporn or furry stuff of any kind for the rest of your days. But, if you are a true furry to the bone, you can’t do that (well, you can stop the porn, but you’ll always want to look at furry stuff).
On the other paw, if you have no scruples about lying, you could always say it was just a phase and that you are no longer interested in it, and then sneak around. You could store your furporn on secure, password-protected websites, you can search on furry stuff while using the incognito setting of your web browser, and you can generally keep things hidden until you go off to college or find your own place to live.
There is yet another option, however: be yourself without apologies. Let’s start with Mom. She would be upset with you whether she caught you looking at furporn or regular porn or gay porn. Most parents react this way because they have a very hard time coming to terms with the fact that their babies are becoming sexually active adults. So, here’s what you do: tell her you’re sorry she saw what she did, but you promise not to go to such sites anymore. Furthermore, you promise to allow her to monitor your online behavior. But you still want to be a furry. Tell her there is a LOT about being a furry that has NOTHING to do with sex. There are even Christian furry websites. Furries do a lot of charity work, too, and a lot of it is just about hanging out with friends and socializing and having fun with the creativity of it. Your mother, right now, is feeling a bit hurt and betrayed by your sneaky behavior, but you can patch things up with Mom by telling her you want to have an open and honest and above-board relationship with her and you will not sneak around any more.
The friend situation might be a little tougher. You don’t say how your friends and other peers found out you were a furry, but if they were really your friends, they wouldn’t tease you in a hurtful way (if they are just teasing in a silly way without intending to be mean, then it might be you just need a stronger backbone—tease them back; it’s part of what many friends do, you know, razz each other). If they are being deliberately mean, tell them to stop bugging you about it, and if they don’t then they aren’t your friends.
Meanwhile, you can, if you haven’t already, find some furiends. Join a local furry group, such as, in your case, the Las Vegas Furry Community at http://www.vegasfurs.net/ and start getting some friends who are on your side and like the same things you do.

Are slit pupils too weird? Okay, some furry artists will go out of their way to draw canine genitals actually, but I see a lot of foxes with round pupils. Why?
A few fox fursuits have slit pupils, but the point was to be ultra realistic.

Furfunding Week in Review 1-11-15

Back from the holidays! Not a lot of really astonishing projects in December, it’s always a slow time, but January’s off to a good start!
From crowdfundingland, an interesting change over on Indiegogo, who’s really doing the only “new” stuff right now in the big crowdfunding names: the creation of Indiegogo Life. This new sub-site hosts what Indiegogo refers to as “what’s really important” and I think of as “crap,” the endless stream of “fund my college, fund my surgery, fund my new Playstation, fund my fursuit” (three “fund my fursuit” projects this month, no I will not link to any of them.)
What’s interesting about this site–because it sure isn’t the projects themselves–is that fundraising through Indiegogo Life is free. That’s kind of amazing!
Cynically, I believe this is an attempt to make their website more relevant and browseable by shifting the TONS of “this is only of interest to myself and my family and friends, not to you, whoever you are” to their own site. I’m not complaining. Kickstarter is slowly being crushed by the weight of fund-my-lifes they let in when they deregulated their platform. And if this has the one-two punch of lowering irrelevant traffic and improving someone’s ability to get the surgery they need? That’s great.

Might of Mythology (Ends: 1/31/2015): This seems to be some sort of dragon-focused art installation with sharp-edged cut-paper dragons. I’ll be damned if I can understand what the creator is saying, it sounds a little bit altered-state. Nice dragons though.
Wisdom of the Dragons (Ends: 2/4/2015): First novel in an epic fantasy something something. Wow. Normally I try not to snark, but this one’s just painful. A one-sentence writing sample that really only just proves they sort of know how a subordinate clause works (“Men in armor had begun filling the square, their swords begun beating on their shields in fear and in anger.”) Such dragons. Species names that sound like prescription medications. Wolf-dragons, zebra-dragons, lion-dragons. If I donated $500 I bet I could get hairless dog dragons. Wow.
What’s Corbeau Backing This Week?I was a little sad that one of my favorite podcasts, the Steampunk music show “Clockwork Cabaret,” only had a paltry $13 per month in their Patreon, so I went crazy and made it $18. Those girls have brought me a lot of joy over the years. And went a little crazy backing The Furry Fandom App, against my better judgement (I hate flexible funding…) so here’s hoping that ends up being a thing. It’s the sort of project I want Furstarter to be on the record as supporting.

What does it mean to be a furry or: am i a furry ?

So there is this question i am asking myself now a little time. I wanted to hear your opinion.
I am in my early 20 and i myself consider me as a straight or bi male (not really sure about that, yeah sounds "crazy". I think the tendency goes more to bi). I was always a fan of cartoon or animation movies like wall-e, how to train your dragon, madagascar,... I also liked the old cartoons like bugs bunny. The cartoon part got lost a bit with the years, but the animation movies never really...
I started about 2 years or so reading fanfiction of movies and stories i liked, later i added to that erotical fanfiction (watching porn was at first somehow interesting, but it became boring, but now reading stories is just awesome...). some time later i discovered sofurry and later about 1 month or 2 this reddit and the whole furry fandom here. If i look at some people like you here, i was never SO MUCH into this whole anthromorphic animals, fursonas and fursuiting stuff. Browsing now through this reddit (and sometimes yiff, but currently about 90% here reading, 10% yiff or "yiffing?" (where does this word come from ???)), i started to like the art here. I myself are not really creative. But the most important point for me is the community. Most of you seems so nice and kind here, i feel comfortable browsing here, it makes me somehow happy and that i am now alone and there are others "like me". Maybe this is just because i just want to find a place where i belong and what i am. Especially the question of my sexuality, which bothers me some years now is driving me crazy.
I am just posting this here to hear your opinion and thanks for the help.
