My journey was a weird one. At first, I was a bit hesitant, just like the rest of humanity. I wasn't hateful, but I was definitely cautious of the "horrible sex crazed psychos" that the media and frankly half of the internet made furries out to be.

My first influence was a long time friend, who happened to be a furry for quite some time. Although we all were subject to the whole MLP craze of mid-late 2012, he still preferred paws to hooves despite the nagging me his brother and myself. However, since the decline of the pony fandom (honestly, I was bored after mid season 3), his artistic prowess again became a major factor towards at least considering the furs.

Now I'm addicted.

I've been really hesitant to post this, but I've had it on my mind for a while. I know this might not be the best place to post it, but you guys might be a bit more... open-minded and helpful than others.

To explain a bit, I'm a gay male, 20 years old (will be 21 in March). I live in New York state (near Albany) and go to college in western New York. My family and I are on... odd terms in regards to my sexuality. They don't like it, but they have the stance of "love the sinner, hate the sin" kind of thing. They don't like that I'm gay, but they still love me. They also don't know I'm a furry.

I've had three relationships with other guys, with two of them being online and ending badly. The first one was a guy I met online and he wasn't who he said he was. There's a long scary story that goes with that, but suffice to say it's over. My parents intervened and forced me to break contact. They tried to launch an investigation against him and he eventually died of a heart attack, which my parents think is due to the stress he was going through with police starting to go after him. This was all online.

Boyfriend number two introduced me to furries and I haven't gone back. He was sweet, adorable, funny, and wonderful. We dated for over a year. But he had serious depression and issues with giving me space, so I had to end it. I still love him and miss him, but it just wasn't working. Plus we were only online with no idea how we would meet in real life.

Boyfriend three was the first one I had in real life. It was amazing, but he loved me much more than I loved him. I could see that it wasn't going to work out, but he was okay with it.

Anyways, end of background. I want a boyfriend. Really bad. I get lonely. I need the connection of having someone who knows all of me and loves me for who I am. I have dreams of settling down with one guy and raising a family. I want to be a dad.

And to be honest, I want my SO to be a furry as well. But I hated the distance. I hated not being able to touch. I need that. I'll be the first to admit. I'm a hopeless romantic. I love the cheesy romance cliches.

It's just love is hard to find in the gay community and even harder among furries. Time and again, I've heard of relationships going south because they wanted an open relationship and it just fell apart. One wanted to sleep with someone else and paid no regard to their mate. It's so frustrating for me. I want that close connection. I want that sappy romance stuff. It's just I can't stand the online stuff. Looking at the person you love through a screen with no physical contact is something I really hated.

On top of that I have school to worry about and that takes up a lot of my time. There are times when I don't mind being single. I like having time to myself. I enjoy being able to retreat into my own world with no one interrupting me. I guess I don't want someone to take up all of my time like my second ex...

I just don't know what to do or how to handle my current emotions... Any help would be appreciated.

TL;DR Lonely college guy. History of bad online relationships and doesn't like long-distance, but wants a furry boyfriend, which would probably be online. I'm okay being single, but sometimes I wish I had someone to hold and kiss. And someone to tell me everything will be all right...

What exactly is role play in the furry community? All I can think when someone says "role play" is the fantasy dice rolling kinda one, so what do you all mean when you say it? I hope that makes sense.

So I've been interested in the subculture for many years now I have slowly but surely been developing my fursona for about three years. Today's the first day I drew her. I'm not very good at drawing be nice. And I got the courage to submit this post from a recent ask reddit. I've been looking into buying a partial fur suit for quite some time. I don't have a lot of money to get one custom-made and I haven't found one that is closely resembles my fursauna that I could work with. I also don't have a name for her and a backstory. I don't even know what species she is! Can anyone help me with this. I feel like a deer in headlights. Here she is. Be nice I'm fragile
