Shared Worlds

A section in your LINKS for Anthropomorphic based Shared Worlds might be nice. I know of two. One run by Mr. Ken Fletcher. Spontoon Island, a 1930's based island universe at http://spontoon.rootoon.com and one I and a few friends launched in late December of 2009. The Fifth Imperial Hunt. A Space Opera universe at http://spaceopera.naorhy.com

Or not, as you choose. But finding these places is extremely difficult. I know only of the two.

What is a Shared World, anyway?

Another word for them is a "story universe" - ones you might be more familiar with are Star Trek and Star Wars. Furry and related fandoms do have a few of these; some examples that come to mind are Tales from the Blind Pig and Tales of The Tai-Pan.

Ah.

Then, Feathretail of Become Your Fursona currently has four stories set in three worlds intended as backdrops for other creators; but I am not aware of any other stories set in them.

Basically, it's a project where several writers get together and create a world wherein they can all write stories using the same characters and backgrounds. It differentiates from corporate projects like movie and TV universes in that those properties are designed to be ongoing serials done by work-for-hire writers, and the shared world projects are open to all interested parties. Some of the best known in SF and Fantasy were THE TALES FROM THE VULGAR UNICORN and the WILD CARDS series. Besides the two furry shared universes mentioned by GreenReaper (which are both still ongoing), there was the FURKINDRED, published by MU Press over a decade ago; three volumes of comics and prose were published, plus one stand-alone comic adventure, and two independently published short stories (one by myself, and the other by the late Gerald Perkins).

I've added them under a story worlds section.

There is another shared world. http://morfs.nowhere2go.org/ This is the Massive Ontogenetic Regulation Failure Syndrome world created by Britney McMaster. To my knowledge it is not an Anthro world. Meaning the Miss McMaster herself it apparently not interested in the pure Anthro universe, nor do I see any names that I requnize in the Authors list. However MORPHS created human/animal hybrids of various degrees, including complete regression.

One thing to note here. Unlike a 'normal' shared world, writers characters do not interact with other writers characters. In short, they do not co-write. Each 'world' is a stand alone universe.
