Considering how things sell at Furbid, I am surprised no one has selected The only thing that matters yet.

Well, I don't know if anyone is THAT shallow, but bear in mind the old adage -- simply put...
Sex sells.
I like a bit of randiness now and again, but I don't make a steady diet of it.

Most conventions' art shows seem to have about twice as much tame artwork as adult artwork.
Only a few dealers sell only adult artwork. A slightly larger number sell only tame artwork. Most sell a mixture.
In other words, I think people are being honest.
Hmm, somebody has now... I can't help wondering if that was a joke vote. :}
Well drawn furry art is well drawn furry art, adult content or not. Its just that sometimes you can't find the art under all the spooge! ;-)

Iiiiinteresting. Have to wonder if this poll is due to my disagreement with Darryl....
Even I have to day it's pretty dang unlikely for a fur's ONLY interest to be erotica. That's like saying someone's only interest, period, is sex. Even nymphomaniacs enjoy movies, stories, sports, etc... I see it as essential, but not the Most Important Part.
What is the most important part?..... Well, IMHO, it's furries. Having sex, playing chess, sleeping, fighting, watching TV..... It's not what they're doing. It's what and who they are.
That its ranked as a primary aspect of 'Furry Fandom' is the reason I dont class myself as being 'A Furry'
Why do you let other people dictate so much of your life like that? There are some people somewhere who believe that murder is okay; that doesn't mean that you also have to.
You can believe that adult art is not a part of *your* furry fandom.
Unfortunatly, the majority of people seem to insist that 'my furry fandom' is the same as their 'furry fandom'. Going as far as asking me why I'm even here.

I agree, this is a sickness I've encountered as well. It's amusing to me that while lots of folks in furry fandom like to trumpet about how diverse and accepting the fandom is they seem unable to cope with the idea of others having views and ideals about the fandom that differ than theirs.
The fallout when such opposing viewpoints is almost always interesting to witness.

Interestingly enough, it's through furry, and my MUCKing, that I came to be more accepting and open-minded. I hadn't, before, been able to see both sides of an issue at the same time--either I was arguing one, or arguing the other, I couldn't see both sides. Now I can, and I don't know precisely HOW it happened.
But there will always be jerks in any sufficiently large and diverse population. It's a matter of simple probability.
Smile! The world could use another happy person.
Since my ideas of an antrho fandom, and 'their' ideas of an anthro fandom differs, I just dont claim to be a part of that 'furry' fandom.
Oh boy, this is the discussion I don't like. Well, for me adult ascpects are not the MOST important thing, but still they are important. In every culture you find adult aspects - from Egyptian, Greek, Roman to Modern world. OF course it is still reserved for adult audience. For example the masterpieces of past times featured nude. Renaissance, Barok - these are only few examples...
As for me... I think the 'adult aspects' are good as long they have some taste.

I think you just hit on another thing that seems highly variable between individuals and between cultures, and that is how closely they associate nudity with sex. To some people, they don't necessarily have anything to do with one another, whereas for others they are closely related (the latter group are often viewed by others as hung up or puritanical). Many of the masterpieces you refer to are by artists who see the artistic beauty of the nude human form and are able to use it effectively in a non-sexual context.
As for furries, well, I suppose it comes down to the idea that animals don't wear clothes (though mammals have fur and avians have feathers) and don't care what parts of their bodies are visible, or even about having sex in plain view. It's up to the individual how far they want to carry that into their furry persona.
Ok... the artist masterpieces showed the beauty of human body, so why can't furry fandom have masterpieces of their own. There is a thin line between 'tasteful nudity' and pornography. I'm trying not to cross it... although it's very hard

Heheh. You said "hard...." huhuhuhuhuhuhuh.

In all honesty, I do enjoy the adult aspects, as an adult, but do I seek them out and live for them? No. It's a part of life for me, and completely seperate from furry. I look for adult stuff in furry no more or no less than I do in every other thing in my life. I see no reason why it is such a huge issue in any fandom. But that is kind of the problem, people make it a focus, and it causes a stigma for the group as a whole. Meh. I've said enough I think.
If a fur's only interest is the 'adult' aspects, would he or she even come to Flayrah, enabling him or her to see the poll and answer?
(and that's assuming he or she would take the time to answer, and answer it honestly)
The problem with the wording of this poll is the same problem with the topic in the fandom proper: "Adult" has a rather broad base of definitions.
Some people use "Adult" like I do: as a term or word to refer to a broad range of material that includes sexually explicit material as well as "mature" themes... a great example of "mature art" would be that produced by Ashryn or Arphalia. While they do produce some pieces that fall under the spooge part of adult, they also produce rather intense and graphic art that involves blood, dismembermint, guns, knives, etcetera. It doesn't have to be all spooge, dripping members and kinky positions to qualify as something that's not really for folks under age 17.
While I use "adult" to describe a broad range of materials, others use the word "adult" strictly to describe pornographic material. I think therein lies the problem: a clash of ideas on what constitutes "adult" and what doesn't.
Maybe the fandom should consider adopting the broadcast standards and practices system, identifying art as "PG-13," "NC-17" or "M" and then further explaining WHY. I can picture the VCL after that overhaul.... "This piece has been rated NC-17 for hypertrophic squirrels and intense sexual situations. Viewer discretion is advised.

Valid point about the meaning of the word "adult". It was not easy to decide how to word the question, and what responses to offer the poll takers, in the limited space available.
I don't envy you. ;)

I tend to feel that adult artwork is such a draw in the furry fandom because there are artists within that will draw it.
When it comes to squeeky clean pictures one need only see there are furries in all sorts of items from greeting cards to puzzles to beatrix potter, Non Yiffy furry art is mass market available hence seems less desireable. Conventions and furry oriented websites maintained within the Furry Fandom in general are about the only place one can find furry adult material with rare exceptions.
I think that novelty factor of the fandom is why the adult material is so prevalent.
Unfortunately the media has blown the sexual aspect way out of proportion and can't seem to differenciate the difference between a private matter between two people and a public convention function and intertwined the two as if they are somehow connected and in doing so have skewed public opinion about what furries are all about.
