For the third straight year, I had to pass up Anthrocon because the
National Puzzlers' League convention was on (and before) the same
weekend. Still catching up from eight days away, but here ya go at last.
Felines and simians predominate in this month's addenda.

AMAZE INK (SLAVE LABOR) (http://www.slavelabor.com)
JUL052583E Little Scrowlie #11 7x10, 24pg, B&W $2.95
by Todd Meister and Jennifer Feinberg
'Homebrew Satan worshipping teens conflict with the pastoral life of the
outer East Bay suburbs in Scrowlie #11. The apparent ritual slaying of
a small animal has the whole town terrified. The Goat Busters are called
in to give a pep rally to Satan's potential teenage recruits, but is it
too little, too late?' What part the eponymous cat plays in this, I know
not.

ARCHIE COMIC PUBLICATIONS
JUL052646E Sonic the Hedgehog #154 32pg, color $2.25
by Karl Bollers & Ron Lim
"Songoose" Part 2 of 2.
JUL052647E Sonic X #1 32pg, color $2.25
by Joe Edkin & Tim Smith
'Eggman, Decoe and Bocoe are putting the lives of hundreds in danger --
including Sonic's friend Chris -- as they hatch an "explosive" scheme to
empty the bank's vault. Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, Cheese and Tails must save
the day...and things go from bad to worse as they attempt to recover a
lost Chaos Emerald before Eggman gets his mitts on it. Worst still, the
Chaos Emerald is at the bottom of the ocean and Sonic can't swim!' Eh?

FANTAGRAPHICS BOOKS
JUL052851F Fuzz & Pluck in Splitsville #4 (of 5) 48pg, B&W $4.95
'In this penultimate issue, Fuzz comes up with a way to defeat ferryman
Victor's nemesis (a bridge) once and for all -- with disastrous
consequences. In the machiavellian world of the gladiator games, Pluck
is king -- until he finally meets his match. Though beloved by artists
like Chris Ware and David Mazzucchelli, this might be our most
underrated series. Funny, surreal, moving and engrossing. MATURE THEMES'
Fuzz is a bear, Pluck a chicken. I've seen earlier episodes of this in
*Zero Zero*. A bit depressing, I thought.
