Fur Affinity access restored after domain nameserver hijack

Fur Affinity Offline screen "Fur Affinity is now online and may be accessed safely", according to a journal on the now-accessible furry art community, recounting details of the hack that preoccupied much of the fandom for the best part of two days - and urging users to leave the FBI to investigate rather than pursue vigilante justice.

Meanwhile, the "Honoring Dragoneer's Legacy" fund approaches $200,000 - including five-figure donations by Paw Maltz and Bad Dragon - although there is still some way to go to the $221,800 target.

How Fur Affinity was hacked

Per Fur Affinity staff, the site's nameserver configuration was first changed by the "bad actor" at 12:47am Eastern on Tuesday 20 August 2024; their control lasted until 2:28pm the next day, with an server set to capture @furaffinity.net mail, including that of its recently-deceased leader.

Twitter user Hakopla1 provided a breakdown of events (unrolled). In short…

Marked with an asterisk * are what I personally saw during the hack left unmentioned on the thread.

The hacking didn't end there

Allegedly, the hacker used control of the mail server and X's password reset function to get ahold of the official FA account and Dragoneer's account.

When the hacker stole Fur Affinity's account, they promoted NFTs and crypto scams before going mask off and posting anti-furry content. They changed the @ to "ilovekiwi4lunch" in reference to Kiwi Farms, with FA user Whanos quickly renaming their account to @Furaffinity - promising to give it back to the rightful owners. The hacker asked folks to report Whanos, who reportedly "[received] ~3000 notifications" within eight hours".

Regarding the crypto scam, the hacker ended up exposing themself losing 300k~ after hijacking the domain.

That was posted in the original submission but frankly I'm not sure we can trust anything they said, least of all about that. After all, if you had actually made money illicitly you would want to post a loss so people would be less likely to come after you.

Karma strikes back. Maybe the redirects were merely a coverup? Either way, the disrespectful scum got what they deserved.

It's back! That didn't take too long given the circumstances. Long live Fur Affinity!

All 4chan users, Kiwi Farms users, Soyjack Party users, R-Drama users, and any other variation on the "griefer troll" gimmick -- are lame pathetic sociopaths who probably torture small animals "for da lulz." The type of bully who can only feel powerful by screaming at people from behind a screen where it holds no immediate consequence.

Okay, SLFC, see, this guy does it too, that serial posting like four or five vaguely related comments at once, often replying to month old conversations without either much new insight or anything really interesting to add? Now you see someone else doing it, you see how it's kind of annoying, and definitely troll-esque behavior? Okay, so we want to avoid that in the future if you would like to continue posting here, so always think to yourself before you post "do I want to come off like some asshole who thinks Sheik Yerbouti is a clever screenname?" and remember the answer is obviously, "oh, fuck no."

Your rating: None Average: 3 (1 vote)

If it makes either of you feel any better, Elon Musk has the algorhythm do this for him on the Twitter "For You" tab all the time, and it's just as annoying when he does it.

You're clearly butthurt because you couldn't come up with a clever name like that.

Listen, man. Please, try to put aside any preconceived notions about me if you even remember my name. A nice chunk of years often changes people, as does time away from the things that used to piss them off. Like this site. Also, please try not to take it too personal that I'll start by saying part of the reason I even went here today is because, well, I feel like the old(ish) web is dying. This represents that. Writing's on the wall, but wanna scribble something there before they turn the lights off one day. It's a rather selfish motive. But please try not to judge. You're supposed to be a Christian, right?

I like watching sites die, but you like these kinds of conflicts. That's why when you say "if you would like to continue posting here," like, just ban them if it's that bad? I didn't read any of their shit, which I'm sure is shit! But man, I'd wished you guys would've banned so many people. I'm sure I crossed lines, too. Actually, this place and also the nightmare that is even just trying to read Discord made me step back from almost all of it, stick to just a few dozen core friends from way back mostly. On there, you have too much activity and so little actual discussion. Here, it's too little people, but nothing but bickering and people rageposting, almost aimlessly, some of them. Like, DiamondMan. I didn't quite see it back then, but I think I might've been attacking a legit mentally ill! A schizophrenic, or something adjacent? Yeah, ethics aside, it's kind of pointless, isn't it? It's cope, or was, I guess.

Now, you can call me on this, easily. I just said, I didn't read the shit! Don't want to! Do I gotta before I can talk?! I will, if you insist, but, I'm probably going to have a similar conclusion. This is somebody off their fucking pill and it's just that this is one of the last places with a text box, enter button, on some shit they don't have to own or have as tied to their IRL as social media, YouTube accounts. Hell, put their face on cam? With their hoarders dens? You kidding me? With their addled states, broadcasting that to the world? Most people aren't Asmondgold and Keffals.

I'm telling you this because it's clear you love to write. I love to write. I bet this person doesn't love to write and maybe even finds it painful. But, posting addiction is all too real. This is probably an absurd and hilarious concept to you, that you might be enabling post-addiction, and it's an un-Christlike thing to do, and actually if you don't find it funny you might be losing your edge because it God damned is! XD But I miss your effortposts. Your reviews, I dunno, it's like your heart's not in it a lot. Please keep up the good fight for good content on the not-corporate web more and do this backseat modding in comments less?

Oh, and I have been working up to some better quality writing of my own. So if this is a put your money where your mouth is and pick up a shovel yourself kind of lecture I'm asking for? Okay, complaining when you ain't really contribute is pretty lame. I will try. You must admit though, the current state of things is not encouraging. Are you actually a mod? Maybe you should ban the fucker, it just seems like you didn't ban anybody for anything for as long as I followed the site, and for once, it seemed more unfair than all the selective rule enforcement on other sites.

Or argue with me instead of whoever the hell if that's truly all you're online to do anymore because I'm probably smarter and better than them. You're going to tell me to actually read the shit, aren't you? Yeah, I didn't think before I came here today, either.

Your rating: None Average: 3.3 (3 votes)

That's why when you say "if you would like to continue posting here," like, just ban them if it's that bad? ... Are you actually a mod?

No, I am not a mod, even as an editor, I technically had no modding power; every contributor who has posted a story can mark posts as spam, but Green Reaper checks those, and will unhide anything that isn't actually spam. But actually, yes, I agree with you, SLFC probably needs to be banned (he's literally banned everywhere else) and Sheik Yerbouti definitely needs to be, but I don't have that power, and I'm only aware of one other poster ever being banned. Green Reaper just does not like to ban people (in his own way, he's as much a free speech absolutist as Rakuen Growlithe; I don't agree with him, but I respect he puts his money where his mouth is), so saying "if you would like to continue posting here, please do better" is all I can do (I could probably tone down the sarcasm, admittedly; "please do better" can and has applied to me, as well).

My advice is just don't read the comments. First rule of the Internet, right? Also, if you like the articles, tell us. Besides just being, you know, awesome for our egos, it might help counterbalance the sludge of negativity to actually post positively now and then. Two five stars on The Wild Robot review are nice, but dronon taking the time to respond to the article is nicer. I'll admit, my last two articles before that were a bit BuzzFeed-y, writing wise, but hardly low effort; the formatting alone took hours. Good news if you like my longer reviews, though, I've got two in the queue! Setting aside shitty commenters, we do need more regular updates. But, this is a free site and our editors and contributors are unpaid volunteers, so you shouldn't complain (though sometimes I still do).

Also, from a purely practical standpoint, Flayrah does support self-modding. If you log in, you do have an "ignore user" option. Admittedly, that only works perfectly if the annoying person is themself logged in; you also get an "ignore visitors" option, but if I did that, well, we wouldn't be talking now, would we?

Your rating: None Average: 3 (1 vote)

Well, the comments are where the actual people of the internet are, aren't they? And there's so few left. It's so barren and banal without them. Of course, the banality drove them all away. That and capitalism. When I think of self-modding, I think of being able to take accountability and change, contribute better content that sets better examples. I can't change Green, damn near broke my brain even trying to understand Rakuen's English let alone ideas. Can't tell that guy shit! I can change me. Already done it, many times over. But probably nothing will change them except something that forces them to. Like the day Green or somebody pulls the plug on this place, if it's their last haunt. I guess all I'm trying to argue with you, if I'm trying to argue anything, is you'll probably never get that breakthrough moment with them where they just get it. Something IRL or maybe another online happening might, though. Like, did you know anybody who was kind of a bit lost for a bit after FAF went offline either time? Or when 'Neer died? Wakeup calls come in all kinds of forms, but they'll probably not come from just our words.

SLFC sounds familiar, though. Second Life Fox Cartel. The furry rap group that never went anywhere.

Rest In Prosperity, Dypah Flow! Why'd they gotta run up on you and not Sibe?!

But no, the acronym rings a bell. I'll read in a bit. Wish me luck in not being a douche! :3

Your rating: None Average: 2.5 (2 votes)

Well, good luck then, but I'm not too worried. Green Reaper got WikiFur independent, and not on Fandom or whatever, and saved Flayrah from non-existence when Frysco gave up on it. This is not a bright time in the history of Flayrah, no, but believe me, if you actually take a look at the archives, there have been worse. I think Green Reaper values this place more as an archive going back over two decades of furry history rather than a social spot (though, come to think of it, when I actually talked about it with him one time, the response was basically a politer version of "wtf are you talking about, crossie?", so maybe not?), but it's pretty clear this is a side project for him, and his baby is really InkBunny. As an actual trained journalist, the archival aspects of Flayrah are why I value it; as an artifact, it's almost better it's mostly dead. And I keep backups of my articles (or at least the good ones!) elsewhere. (There are plenty of behind the scenes things I could tell you that have lead to the current state of the site, but you'll have to forgive me when I say that's probably none of your business; hell, some technically isn't even mine.)

I have no idea who SLFC is, and only know he keeps getting banned from other sites because, early on, they liked to link to sites they were banned from and complain how unfair they were treated, but they only showed, no, they were being kind of a stupid asshole there, too. If they turned out to be a failed rapper, that would be kind of funny, but I doubt it. (SLFC actually hasn't been a part of this conversation at all, so maybe we should just hope they've moved on and stop talking about them, lest, like the devil, they come when called.)

Ironically, despite our well-earned reputation for nastiness in the comments, our actual news content is actually very positive. Our front page is mostly "aren't video games and movies fun!" and, yes, we do have a articles on hurricanes and sexual predators on the first page, but compare that to our Distinguished Competition at Dogpatch, which seems to much more actively relish publishing bad news. We have a regular feature called "Digging Up Positivity", for cripes' sake!

My last piece of unsolicited advice (this comment, anyway) is maybe don't think of this as an argument. Think of it as a conversation!

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

Sorry, it's just I was kind of expecting argument when that's all we ever did before. But sorry for the paranoia. I actually do come across old comments from here, all the time. I've been on a hunt, trying to find whatever's left of the old web, my memories of it, and so much of that is going to be from furry, right? This literally hurts, sometimes. It's all dead. Those comments often remind me why, but of course, you can't let that stop you.

Getting banned from sites doesn't necessarily mean someone's inherently bad. I got permabanned from FAF for a really stupid reason, and that mod probably was out to get me. But, I had been a true asshole in the past, including towards him. The one time I got temp banned from the main site was over the cub issue. Well, you can probably guess which side I was on. The one most of the fandom is now and that FA would be forced to side with eventually, like we predicted would happen, somehow. But I was basically banned for being too angry/narrow-minded at one of the few things that collides with the limits of my taste and tolerance. But I even mellowed out on that issue about as much as a person can, because none of that vitriol was protecting actual kids, who it's way harder to think about let alone protect. We attack cub because it's easier than stopping crime. But when I see people here (really just one person, probably) trying to use this as the last bastion of apologia for predators and abusers, I wish someone would step in. Speaking of unfair treatment, it wouldn't surprise me if that's one of the same people who just auto 1-star all your posts. FFS, part of the reason I decided to chill out on you is because that would make anyone prickly.

But, it doesn't sound like this person ever grows or changes. I at least had people who missed me when I was gone, staff willing to consider giving me another shot or at least advocating one for me because I would at least admit I had issues, and what they were. If there's no redeeming qualities though, you really got no shot at bringing out any in them by appealing to their reason or humanity. Nonetheless, I bet it's a lot of the same issue as me and other people - we got this chip on our shoulder from previous communities and all that baggage. But, dollars to donuts, dude's addicted to the baggage as much as the text-box.

As for Dogpoop Press, isn't that just one lil' muthafucka trying to act like they alone constitute a news org? It's a fuckin' BLOG, EH!

Your rating: None Average: 2.5 (2 votes)

Boy, let's not talk about either Dogpatch or "1-star comment" guy, or at least as little as possible. More speak-of-the-devils. Though, between you and me, possibly the most annoying thing about the second one is I never figured out just what I said to get someone's goat enough for them to do that for literally years. Like, I was definitely being a spiteful asshole when I did whatever I did, but, man, I was being one hell of a spiteful asshole, at least! (Or maybe, given the time period, they just really liked Sing 2 and were mad I didn't give it a glowing review; that's my other theory, but I like the other one more because it's more flattering and less just sad.)

But, anyway, I'm trying to chill out in general, as well, and I do tend to punch first and ask questions later if I'm not watching myself, but like I said about the actual news items, even if you don't want to be a contributor, you can still choose to accentuate the positive in the comments. Sometimes you just have to roll your eyes at the trolls and remember not to feed them, no matter how good of a comeback you've got. Obviously still not perfected that one yet, and doesn't help that we often go through periods where the trolls are the only ones available to talk to.

Oh, one star comment guy is back.

Or, actually, not sure, maybe Joe's Garage got tired of getting bodied, read some of the other comments, and decided to use that tactic instead. About as lazy and uninspired as their comments, so makes sense.

Your rating: None Average: 1 (2 votes)

Well the least could be said, that Joe has comments worth a damn in the face of zoophilia.
I liked the album too, so I am a fan of Joe and by extension his Garage, the girl on the bus, and L Ron Hoover

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

So you have stated that you are all about post ratings eh? I respect that. Very old skool way of thinking but I respect that.

It seems you would like an essay reply, so, let's give you an essay and make it easy to identify that it's not ChatGPT shall we?

Punching first and asking questions later is really poor form. That's also very old skool. It's kinda crass y'know, not fitting with the current zeitgeist, especially not with the current state of the zoophile scene. Maybe, just maybe you need to relax your ass, and try and get with the huggemz and other crap yer furries are currently rolling with- unless of course they're all trying to get old timers and those with different viewpoints canceled.

I believe that relaxing your ass makes anal sex easier. I have no experience I must readily admit but since some breeds of dog and wolves especially pack large ones, it will certainly help matters along. That is, if you're not caught by the popo by the time the dong is already up yer ass.

It is your business to be a spiteful asshole, it bothers me none, it also has no effect on me, even if you told me whatever you were really feeling then, or now, to my face. I will still laugh at you.

Also, the good thing about this opportunity is that I can prove I am not a ChatGPT bot, and that means something as far as I can tell. Well I think it should mean something to you at least. You spoke of getting my goat? Really? 0w0 LOLZ (see, I can also insert furry crap in my writings). It is a stretch, a very far stretch to think that you are so special that Frankie (speaking of myself in third person) holds a grudge against you since long ago. It points out two facts though A) you got a very good memory, superior to mine: probably a requirement in this subculture to remember which animals you last boned and B) it is bothering you since it began.

Perhaps, you should consider this to not be trolling. There are many examples that are a click away that show what trolling looks like- there are a few comments on this platform, a particular example is the troll that goes on about KiwiFarms. That's trolling. I would have thought that trolls get bored quickly and don't have time to write essay replies Brendan.

What, the, HELL, do so many of you people have against ESSAYS?! Like, for at least 15 fucking years now, I've (and we) have been tolerating and increasingly accommodating you boozed out, vaped the fuck up KNUCKLE DRAGGERS who think EVERYONE online should write exactly and only the kind of shit YOU want to read! It's such crass ENTITLEMENT! And we write shorter and shorter, use fewer and fewer "big words." And nothing is little enough for you. It's like you won't be happy 'til no one's talking. "It's bad to have spare time, you know!" Okay, if you only have a few precious seconds from your not-life to spare for this chunk of not-life, maybe smoke a cigarette to calm your fucking shit? Yeah you're definitely one-star guy if you're also "curse this degeneracy!" guy. Yes I'm encouraging you to smoke. People encourage fucking cub on here, okay? Someone was touched on their foofoo

Your rating: None Average: 1 (2 votes)

I was forced to do this in multiparts. Saddened me to break up such a fine piece of writing. Your website developer returns HTTP status code 403 when I post essays anonymously. Classy!

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

Tell me something. When you were getting those errors, did you think to yourself for a split sec, oh shit, I've been shadowbanned, or something like that? Watching commenters like yourself, thinking back to all the meltdowns I've seen people have over the years on boards, social media and lately on YouTube, I've been having some thoughts, and uh, hot take time...

As much as the internet and its possible future(s) make me paranoid, lately, I really, really wish ISPs and algorithms would, for lack of a better term, "go over the heads" of individual sites and their policies in such a way that the owner of a site could be as gung-ho about free-speech and neurodivergence as they want, and without changing those policies, folks like you still wouldn't be posting. At least not right now, and not like this. Why? Because the machine learning would just cut you off until it was reasonably certain you got whatever help you need and aren't going to aimlessly wander the decreasingly populated back alleys of the old-web for whatever emotional "crack" you're seeking from others. I say "crack" instead of just "dopamine hits" because obviously, you want (or need) something stronger.

Call it "social sectioning" or something, I dunno. Maybe have a condescending little cartoon man with a boo-boo on his head pop up on your screen with the "error" message telling you to go get it looked at.

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

Shadowban? y'all would not have seen me commentz, but you did 'cause you replied
And our man with the essay plan Brendan is definitely reading 'cause he responded indirectly elsewhere on this platform to this here essay.

Your rating: None

Okay, well, yeah, obviously, you'd probably figure out after the first one. But, what, you never thought that before when it's happened on say, Facebook, Twitter? Do you even use those? People get paranoid and think they've been shadowbanned, it gets me paranoid, and you're super paranoid. So that's why I asked. But right after I asked I realized I think it might kinda be a good thing if basically all the sketchy weirdos were purged and only healthy, adjusted people could post, yes. It'd be great if we had an internet that just "knew" the difference between someone writing an essay because they want to write an essay, and someone working themselves up to a terrorist attack. I wouldn't put it past you, because like I said, you types have done a bang up job over about a decade and a half of making me about as a paranoid as you, without the pathology. So I don't even know WHY I'm paranoid, whereas YOU "know" and just won't talk. That's why I know you've got problems, dude. Normal people just take a shit or get off the pot, eh!

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

Actually I got an error message too, and suddenly, I wanted to call everything (but especially the site/error message) Gay & Autistic! I did have a whole reply before that, but it went right out the window with that. Funny, eh! Is that you, too?!

Your rating: None Average: 2 (1 vote)

Oh that don't surprise me. In fact, the reason I "like" you is because I can tell you're web 1.0 through and through. I wonder though, which of us misses it more. Appreciates it more. The pain in you is palpable, but it's just not quite the same. Like, I come back here once in a while, hoping there's maybe some new members posting, or at least a new article from the old ones, and it'll usually just be you in the comments, lunging at the same fucking windmill from like, when did I really start checking this place regularly? 2018, I think? Like, we're coming up on a damned decade of you on the same crusade, and to this day, I still don't know what you're real fucking problem is! All I know is the only times I ever approach being as cryptic and rambly as you, it's because I'm off my literal pill, or because I just "can't" talk about it, for whatever reason. I didn't finally lose my shit until I lost several relatives, a job, and then a furry friend in a hit and run. There, I'm man enough to say what made me fucked up. You? You can't, or just know whatever your "argument" is, no one cares, no one's trying to understand, and probably hasn't been for a long time because it was just wrong. But you keep attacking a mostly empty room like all those people are still here listening! 10 years on, man! And for what?!

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

2018? Twenty-fucking-eighteen? Oh dear. If my memory serves me correctly I had no idea this site existed. Hmmm. Perhaps consider that I am not the only anonymous commenter here.

But thanks for confirming my suspicions that this is your alt Brendan

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

And before I forget, you speak of me as somehow knowing you and your struggles?!? That is a very presumptuous little essay you wrote. What do I know about some of you that I have carefully dissected in the last year or so is surprisingly little. God, this is funny?

But credit, where credit is due, at least you're not a child or behaving like one. Some here, older than I am probably, still behave like children, and are hard to identify amongst the kids/influencers/attention seekers.

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

I think it's funny if you genuinely think me and and Brendan are the same, especially when he thinks you and other buddy are the same. We've taken shots at each other before, so that'd mean he beefs with himself on the internet. Also, I guess Brendan's had this FA account since... fuck it, I'm not gonna bother reading such a long ass number and since it's FA it might not even be the right year. But it's been a long time since he joined as me!

https://www.furaffinity.net/user/wolf-bone

So yeah, Wolf-N-Bone and CrossAffliction being the same person for that long and no one knowing? Or am I just an anon claiming the account of one of the most singularly hated people on FA's forums (and probably the main site too, for a time, at least) like that would win me any points? Anyway, I wasn't being "presumptuous" or whatever. OBVIOUSLY you don't know what I've been through. I told you about that as an example of what can drive someone crazy enough that they just have to tell the internet about it, yet can't talk about it coherently. That or because you lost some argument and just never got over it, so now you're fighting just because it's what you did for however many months/years you were invested in that and never got over it. In a way, it's a similar result, just with a totally different catalyst. You can't argue your way out of trauma, you can't argue your way out of just being flat out wrong, but when all you have are words, everything is an essay. And eventually, you kind of just run out, and start throwing around any argument that sounds like an argument because every thing in sight looks like a thing that needs to be attacked. That's why I compare it to windmills. I'm probably not alone in that.

If you've literally never been through that, okay, I was barking up the wrong tree. At the end of the day, no, I suppose I have no clue what you're going through. It's just that, in the past, whenever I saw someone online be like you, 24/7 no matter which of those 365 days I'd log on, they usually had serious issues, and everyone would know it, but they'd never get banned until they did or said too much of the wrong thing. NOWADAYS? People have such a trigger finger that people that talk the way you do just get preventively kicked, blocked, etc for little more than being too weird.

If that's not you, I'm sorry that 1.5 generations of future mass shooters no one was taking seriously at the time ruined the internet for you, but that's partly what happened and we're officially (and probably forever) a ZERO TRUST, ZERO CHANCES environment online... Except for weird little places like this, until this eventually goes offline. So I don't know why you bother. What IS your end goal, truly? Do you have one?

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

Oh God another essay reply. You must be fun at parties.
Let's try and be brief shall we?
Hey I don't have issues man. Maybe or maybe not you are who I think you are but jeez, if I had issues I wouldn't be writing here. LOL. When they said furries were packed full with drama and issues, they were not wrong.FYI there's nothing weird about this place, so you are clearly not getting something about the lay of the land here.

I guess that's what happens when you think zoophilia is OK, or more than a hobby even. The projection onto me was quite amusing though.

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

At least I get invited to parties once in a while. How about you? And no, I don't think zoophilia is okay, or cub for that matter. And even things I do sorta like, BDSM, for example. I have to wonder, is it really "natural" or was I "groomed" into it, for lack of a better word? I think, given the choice, I probably wouldn't be into it. So don't act like I'm morally bankrupt when you know as much about that as you do about my past or identity. I'll have you know, the only time I ever got banned off FA, it was during the cub debacle, for "hate speech" against it and, knowing me at the time, probably also zoos and "degenerates" in general. I remember having a real bug up my ass even before all that about how it was all porn at the top, clean art barely in the middle, and writing in general being at the absolute bottom, especially if it's not porn. I can like BDSM and related art, but that doesn't change my view that it's messed up that you pretty much have to draw it even if you're not into it to be relevant - or if not that, probably something else that's not quite up your alley. YHC's, for example, were something people kind of resisted at first, but eventually even artists against it "sold out" and started doing it.

You, you're like the guy who refuses to "give up the fight against degeneracy" like that Japanese soldier who didn't realize the war was long over, except, contrary to your perception, most of the fandom is more with you than against you when it comes to things like zoo. So why are you so obsessed with attacking it here?

See, you actually did give me most of the answers I want. Okay, you insist you don't have issues, even though in the milder sense of the term, you certainly have issues with the fandom, vague as they are. But you didn't answer the most important one, what you're actually hoping to accomplish here. I think you might not even know, dude. It's a shitty place to be, mentally, is all I'm saying. Part of you probably WANTS to be doing/writing better shit than this, literally anywhere but here, right? Or at least to write a proper article or something, what.

Another essay *gulp* I am *really* going to have to try and find the time to read this.
Anyway...
Unfortunately I must declare I was wrong, so you're not Brendan. Okay when Mr Kachel shows up eventually he can settle this.

But you sure spewed out a biography there. I didn't expect that. At least now you have got me in a corner. Well done by the way. I don't have much to reply on 'cause it's apparent I have no clue who you really are, and additionally you listed events and stances there I have no knowledge of because I am not involved.

OK, so as far as them furries go, I will say this, you're different but man, you still have the one undesirable characteristic of wanting to fight.

I'll bid you good day or night for now!

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

Yeah, everyone assumes everyone wants to fight. Even after they keep getting it wrong about everything else and admit that. Think I might not be the one project here.

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

The intention was not to fight but, you brought the fight to me. Easiest thing in the world. Because... furries never change, they are all the same.
The easiest people to trigger, the most deviant, and most "sensitive"

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

"You're one of the different ones, but furries are all the same" OMG XD

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

I see someone still wants to see if they can get another punch in.

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

It's not a PUNCH I'm delivering, it's a CONTRADICTION I'm pointing out LOL. Look, my only point in all this other than maybe you've got some kind of unresolved issues is you ought to figure out what your whole purpose/motive is because it doesn't seem to be all that clear. It's like you're laser-focused, but aimless at the same time. I'll reiterate what I said before, you probably would like to say/do more, substance-wise, right? But mental states get in the way, all the time. Ask any writer!

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

I would like to be more focused, however Web 1.0 limits my expression.
But you know, let's go back in time and pretend it's 1998, we can do that.
Why not log in, if you have a user account here, so that I can get yer details and then we can do this old-skool, via email if you like. Or even better, via IRC

Your rating: None Average: 1 (2 votes)

I do have an account here, actually, but I don't think I wanna use that one. I'm still trying to figure out if it's even worth it to stick around, honestly. It might sound silly but I ain't just Wolf-Bone no more. The N stands for "and" but also Never Ending and it's basically some rap shit and it'd be cool to do some things with that new 'sona but like, I think maybe a few hundred, maybe a thousand or so actually check this? So it's a bit discouraging.

I sent you a message via another platform. Let's see if you get it.
The more I look into your complaints the more I think you're conflating me with someone else, but yeah, let's prove I am not a troll and straighten this out.

Your rating: None Average: 5 (1 vote)

I think Green Reaper values this place more as an archive going back over two decades of furry history rather than a social spot

I did get the British Library to add Flayrah (and WikiFur) to the UK Web Archive (legal deposit), but you see how that's going.

Your rating: None Average: 1.5 (2 votes)

I'm not trying to discourage you but at the same time, this web-preservation effort seems futile. I've lost a great deal of faith in WayBack. There's old material on FAF I wish I could find, but can't. Most of it not even mine. Coyote Caliente. Red Savage. Those two names come up as thread starters, and lead to dead links, all the time. I know I used to be able to find more. Found an old Angelfire page of mine once, now I can't. Thing is, I was actually considering at one point what, if anything, I could do to get that removed, because I'm not sure I want the therianthropic ramblings of my Tim Horton's coffee and donut addled 15-yo brain online anymore. I've deleted things from the FA main site I wish I hadn't now, that probably couldn't be recovered. But some of them I'm sure I wouldn't bring back, and I did have the right to delete them at the time, right? Oh, and then there's my own FAF schizoposts. Good luck finding those, probably! And I should probably be thankful for that!

Yeah, man, from a certain point of view, is it really entirely bad the entire web is entirely dead? It's not, I know. But it's getting there.

Your rating: None Average: 2.5 (2 votes)

Well, before the Internet, we mostly used paper to store information, and there are entire classes of insects who reacted to our pulping trees with basically "omg, where can I get this recipe?" And before that, there was stone, and there is at least one very famous poem about how even that is a coin toss, at best. I'm not saying you're wrong, rather you're righter than you know. Most of humanity's time on Earth passed by with no notes, and what did survive was random chance. Did you know that the only Roman novel to survive completely is something usually translated as The Golden Ass (and is actually a furry transformation fic involving a man becoming a donkey)? Or that the recorded name most likely to survive the longest is Richard Nixon's, because he was president when we put a plaque on the moon with his signature, away from all the corrosive things here on Earth?

Speaking of Ozymandias, I think there was an old Ozy and Millie strip (which has been archived rather well, by the way) where Millie laments she lost her favorite pencil, to which Ozy replies, trying to comfort her, in the perspective of the universe, the little bit of the vast universe that even knows of the pencil will soon forget it, and the overwhelming majority will never even know it existed in the first place.

To which Millie responds, correctly, perspective sucks.

Your rating: None Average: 2 (2 votes)

Actually, when I think of Roman things surviving, I think of Marcus Aurelius' meditations, because it's non-fiction. I read it, but realized it's like having a parasocial relationship with a Roman. And there's a scrawling on a wall from Vesuvius, some guy declared "today, I made bread." What if this was some poor guy punch-drunk from all those gladiatorial concussions crowing about his one last achievement, and then he died? But reading an old forum is similarly depressing, if you can see roughly when the end came. Or even if you can't, because you'll always be wondering, what made everyone bail? It's often so sudden.

FAF is just one forum I've been part of, but I've been part of many others. Good luck finding any of them. And like I said before, as much as I hate to say it, maybe it's for the best. But nonetheless, my (dead) best friends were on some of those boards. Preserving the memories we created online, as well as the people who created the memories, used to be a thing. Now, we don't care. But she (Red) said things that would get her *completely* cancelled unless *maybe* she did a huge backpedal. If she ever became a published author like she was working on, she'd probably have to be answering for some things now.

At the same time, I think she would answer for those things, as I would for mine. But the fact that most of those days are lost to time, or at least are such a pain in the ass to try to find through an archive that it's just not worth it, is the reason why we have a furry activist on Twitter who straight up lies about her education, like she never went to university. I guess you're somehow not a good leftist if you did anything with your life besides strictly blue-collar physical work, even if you're also an artist, somehow.

That would be a lot harder to pull off, Vanilla-Icing your entire life story like everyone does nowadays, if the new web was a bit like the old. So obviously, there's ways I want the old web back, and ways I want even less. This is very contradictory yes, because the internet has put many of us in a very self-conflicted state. But please, if you EVER hear someone say "the internet is forever/never forgets again," PLEASE rip them a new asshole, intellectually, of course! They are about the dumbest people alive, now, the ones who still believe that.

Your rating: None Average: 1 (2 votes)

Somewhat pissy about the internet aren't we?
Maybe nobody cares and your kind are kind of undesirable, from a time when the internet user was stereotypically an overweight male in momma's basement.

If the internet was as "dead" as you proclaim, then why is there so much money to be made, even in 2024? I surmise this has more to do with the fact that your zoophilia is now well and truly censored and can land you in legal hot water, tsk tsk such a sharp contrast to the 1990s when wolf cock was allowed online and nobody cried to mommy "Oh boohoo mommmmy I saw wolfie's ding-a-ling on the interwebz please call da police...*sniff*"

Your rating: None Average: 2 (2 votes)

"Like, DiamondMan. I didn't quite see it back then, but I think I might've been attacking a legit mentally ill!"

Probably best to not put these words together too (as a continuation of what crossie suggest not mentioning.).

Also for "when I see people here (really just one person, probably) trying to use this as the last bastion of apologia for predators and abusers, I wish someone would step in.",

I'm not sure what you mean. Regardless though I didn't see anyone defend anyone hurting any living creature here. Just that it's better to focus on stopping actual predators behaving predatory rather than waste time going after specific fiction that doesn't exist and many times doesn't look realistic. The only other thing I saw was a couple of arguments in favor of first world mindsets like rehabilitation or something in the lines of that iirc.

Much stress and worry about preservation of what is essentially deviance

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

You talking about others being deviant when your ass ain't had a good song since Humpin' Around and that was back in '93! Mister one Bobby Brown, if that is your real name!

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

How old are you? Ah, that means the Bobby Brown being referred to was the subject of a song back in the seventies, when you were still waiting for the deed to be done to make you.

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

LOL WHAT?! I was "made" in '82. So, that was the year Salt-N-Pepa dropped Push It, which was so my jam by the time I, uh, CAME OUT in '83... God... STFU, you're STILL more gross than me!

Your rating: None Average: 1 (1 vote)

1983- shame bitch, you probably never heard of Zappa, which is unsurprising since 83 is probably your IQ.
The song Bobby Brown was on a Frank Zappa album from the 70s titled Sheik Yerbouti.
