I had a dream last night that i just awoke from. In my dream, for the first time ever, i had decided to invite over to my house a group of furs. You see, in my dream world, there was a furry convention in town, and i saw it as an opportunity to finally break into this fandom. A little late, but surely, my new furry friends all arrived. A little older, a little wilder than I'd imagined, but i welcomed them and embraced them all the same. My mum put on her best face too ... not understanding, not even trying to, but still taking a massive leap and welcoming them into our home. We laughed and played games - board games, cards even chased eachother about. When i woke up, i felt loss and an overwhelming realization that i don't have any friends who are like me. I have a lot of friends that like me, sure, but none who are like me.

I have a lot of energy. Energy and enthusiasm that i bring to the table in the same sort of weird and loving way that the furs in my dream did. My heart yearns to be extroverted, when my current friendships write off this as childish or immature.

So, here i am /r/furry, a little tired, a little lonely. Not seeking a lover, but seeking some of the warmest, kindest, most welcoming friends on the internet, to say hello, and to give me a chance to find somewhere a place with people i don't feel like im alienating myself by being myself around.

So I feel lonely and I haven't talked to you lot I'm a while so I thought I'd say some thing just for the hell of it.

First off who ever recommended that watcom bamboo tablet to me I owe you the rest of my artistic life that thing is a dream to work on.

Secondly I feel like I'm the only person who'd enjoy making a creepy fur suit just to scare people with... Maybe that is just me... Anyways nice to see you agian r/furry

Hey! :D 23 y.o. Husky on the northwest side of Chicago. I'm looking for more furs in the area to hang with and chat and stuff ^ add me on Skype, Androidkl92 is the username.

Okaaaaay I might get flack for this.

I've noticed a string of OLD servers have a ton of awesome OLD stories (Im talking pre me. as in like 80's and early 90's) And some of these servers haven't been updated in years....so. To preserve the stories on them im finding any and all stories I can that are old and rehosting them or reposting them :D

Feel free to stalk as I find and upload them. Im doing a mass upload today by story not author due to FF so heres dah links

If anyone has a story they want backed up let me know.

I plan on getting a server in the future anyway :P

Wherein Kickstarter makes a promise to do more good…

I love you, Kickstarter logo. You match my hair.

With politics, war, and terror in the news 24/7, it’s a rare thing for me to turn up the volume on the car radio, but the sentence “Kickstarter Inc. is no more” kind of stood out. And, yeah, that wasn’t the whole story, or really the story at all. Kickstarter will continue funding cat-based card games, minimalist wallets, and Baby’s First Vampire Novel until doomsday, but the company has a new mission, and legal responsibility. It’s become a Public Benefit Corporation.

What’s that mean? I’m a little hazy on the precise consequences of this decision (and the subject is a little hazy, too), but to the best of my understanding, a standard corporation’s primary (but not exclusive) duty is to provide financial benefit to its shareholders. Does this mean “maximize profits for our owners at any cost?” Well, no, not technically, but anybody that’s been laid off to make a company’s apparent profit higher will tell you that profit is king, and any decision that lowers the company’s financial returns had better be looked at very carefully. Nobody wants angry shareholders.

A Public Benefit Company has more than one bottom line. Part of their company’s stated purpose is to provide a material, positive impact on society and the environment, and may be further refined by committing to serving low-income communities, promoting art and science, or any other benefit to society as a whole. And legally, a third-party group will review them, and make sure they’re making the kind of positive difference they committed to. By making this kind of positive change a powerful part of the company’s structure, the company ensures that they must put their funds and effort toward the greater good of society and the world, and won’t be torn apart by angry shareholders for this sort of behavior.

You can read about Kickstarter’s new business model on their blog. Amazingly, there were no “nays” on the vote to reincorporate under this new structure (I can’t say it was a unanimous decision, because “abstain from voting” is a thing). I’ll be curious to see if Indiegogo follows them down this path–Indiegogo’s already very pro-nonprofit, and it wouldn’t be out of character for Indiegogo to follow suit. I’m actually surprised that they didn’t beat Kickstarter there.

 What’s Corbeau Backing This Week?
Patreon projects are like radiation in your body, you just keep acquiring. I added two Patreon pages to my monthly money disbursement this week–the e-book Laika Doshi and GeekDad, the parent organization for the nerd-music podcast, Hipster, Please. I need to clear out these monthly payments, they’re starting to add up, but…what to cut? :(

This question has been looming over me for a while. Which fandom has the best economy? I'm guessing the two largest fandoms are the furry and the brony fandoms and they both have really big conventions, social networks, and a lot of businesses within the fandoms. For example, we have lots of fursuit makers and studios.

Someone do the math here, how much do you think our economy is worth? Does this fandom have a better economy than the others?
