TIL one of the unfinished Swat Kats episodes became a Scooby- Doo movie.

Furry Reddit - Mon 3 Sep 2012 - 01:40

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SWAT_Kats:_The_Radical_Squadron_episodes#Unfinished_episodes

The Curse of Kataluna: Commander Feral falls in love with a woman named Kataluna, who is actually a succubus, and she begins to drain his lifeforce away.[5] This episode was later adapted into the movie Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island.

(I still can't believe there were only 25 episodes of Swat Kats.)

EDIT: Shit! I just got the reference. Kataluna (Cat - Moon). In the Scooby Doo movie, some people are transformed into cats during a full moon. Swat Kats is full of cats, naturally.

Disney Animation — From the Ground Up

In-Fur-Nation - Sun 2 Sep 2012 - 20:44

There’s a new book coming around, simply called A Disney Sketchbook. Edited by Ken Shue, it’s been getting considerable buzz prior to its release. Here’s the publisher’s summary: “The Disney Sketchbook is a glorious, collectible coffee-table book showcasing the rich visual development art by Disney animators over the more than eighty-year history of the Walt Disney Animation Studios (originally Disney Feature Animation). The sketchbook appears as if Disney’s animation artists have passed it among each other through the years, from the early beginnings of the Studios’ work, through the present day. Frequently, current artists have drawn their concepts alongside earlier characters that have influenced their work. In brief but potent text, the current Disney animators will reflect on the inspiration of the artists who have preceded them, going back to the “first generation” of animators who created the Silly Symphonies and early cartoons, to the first Golden Age of Disney animation (Snow White to The Black Cauldron) to the present second Golden Age (The Little Mermaid onwards).” Harper Collins will release A Disney Sketchbook in hardcover on October 9th.

Review: ‘The Silver Circle’, by Kyell Gold

Furry News Network - Sun 2 Sep 2012 - 18:24
Author: Fred Kyell Gold wrote The Silver Circle as his first entry into the paranormal romance genre. As such, it is not a category-anthropomorphic novel as much as a category-werewolf novel, or a category-transformation novel. But it is Furry enough to please most anthro fans. Valerie Creighton, a mid-level career businesswoman in her mid-thirties, has [...]

Getting Ready for College

Ask Papabear - Sun 2 Sep 2012 - 12:46
Hi there papa bear, it's good to see you again.

My question today is a pretty normal one. I graduated from high school and I've been accepted into this college. I'm a little nervous to go because I'll be away from my mom and on my own for the first time. I kind of think to myself, am I ready for this? I guess my question is this, what is the best way to prepare myself for college and being away from home?

Kageichi

* * *

Dear Kageichi,

Other than the obvious “Are you intellectually prepared for college?” question, there are two aspects of your first time being on your own: practical and emotional. On the practical side, Papabear hopes you can do things to take care of yourself, including having your own bank account and knowing how to manage your finances, doing your own laundry, taking care of a car if you have one, being sure you are disciplined enough to study on your own without your family telling you to do your homework, etc.

While Papabear doesn’t want to be a fuddy duddy, still, you need to be smart: don’t do like many do and treat this as a vacation from responsibility, drinking and partying and playing video games and forgetting that you are there to get an education and a degree.

Then there is the emotional side. You are off on your own without family to be there when you need a hug or comforting word. You will need to build a social circle around you for support in this area. The people who have the best time in college are the ones who develop a new network of friends, many of whom can last you a lifetime.

For many, going to college is a rite of passage into adulthood. If the above works for you, Kageichi, you will do just fine.

Bear Hugs,

Papabear

Funny family furry anecdotes

Furry Reddit - Sun 2 Sep 2012 - 04:15

Anyone have stories to share of hilarious or giggle worthy happenings involving your family in relation to furriness? Reactions? Are you the butt of their jokes?

Here's a short one; I taught my dad how to use torrents, he (being a male) downloaded porn. nbd. He comes into my room one day and says, "Hey mate, I got something for you. I downloaded this last night, it's not what I thought it was, but it's your thing so here you go." And hands me a USB. USB is loaded with a gigabyte + of scans of old fur planet magazines, gay/straight furry porn etc.

Of course I'd pretty much seen all of it before, and a majority of the stuff was straight stuff, not my thing. But it's the thought that counts, right? I think it's hilarious/amazing myself, I don't know if anyone else's dad would do the same. Oh, and happy fathers day, dad, you fucking legend.

So come on, what ya got?
