Heya fuzz butts,

I just got my first character to 80 and I've been playing a lot, but I don't have a guild that I've clicked in yet. Does anyone here play regularly and would like to do some group content? Any good guilds around?

I know I said I would leave you all alone in my last thread. However, earlier today I thought that knowing why I am so open-minded that could help you with outreach, assuming that is something you want to do (as individuals or as a community).

The first time I learned that Furries existed was during reporting of the gas attack on the Midwest Furfest (in Chicago, IIRC). Soon after, I noticed there was a lot of pretty awful trolling directed towards you. Likely the trolling always existed, but it seemed to have been brought out into the broader public's eye through comments on this story. Seeing that and when the MSNBC host freaked out on-air after learning what Furries were made me want to do the opposite, and learn what they were really about rather than rush to judgement.

I won't bore you all with personal stories, but as far as I can tell, my open-mindedness towards you could come at least in part from my own past. Long story short, had my life gone differently in a few ways, I imagine I might very well have become one of you. I didn't, but it sounds like that might be a big part of why I personally am trying to understand rather than judge.

That's my personal experience, but I hope it helps if you are trying to increase awareness among non-Furries. Also, I'm willing to help any other way I can with those efforts if desired. I just wanted to offer something in return after you all answered my out-of-the-blue questions.

Hey there folks!

My name is Kiba. I help out with some of the social media and communication aspects of FWA. The con is only about 2 months away, so the staff is really trying to get everything ramped up and ready for April 9th! I hope to disseminate as much information here as is reasonable, and I will try to answer any additional questions that you have when I can get to it!

The Con

Furry Weekend Atlanta was started in 2004, and has grown to over 2,400 attendees. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our official charity for the last nine years has been with Conservator's Center Inc. (CCI), and with your help we managed to raise over $20,000 for them in 2014 alone.

The Community

FWA and its staff believe very strongly in this community, which is why we commit so much work and energy every year to try and bring people together. The majority of people in this community end up being some of the most open and accepting individuals you can find, and the sheer talents of the artists, performers, creative types, and makers never cease to amaze us. It makes us very proud to help foster an environment for people to come together and be themselves.

Our Hotel

Our convention has tried out a few different locations in the Atlanta area over the past few years, and we are extremely excited to call the Marriott Marqis our new home. It's difficult to put into words how beautiful and well-designed the interior is. It also has a ton of elevators, huge central con space, and amazing ballrooms. Not to mention a beautiful pool and a nice selection of bars, restaurants, and coffee joints.

There's a ton of additional details I could go into, but I'll try to leave it a little more reasonable for now. Pre-registration ends on February 8th (two days!) so I definitely recommend jumping on it if you already know you're attending and want to save a bit of cash. We have a great staff and an amazing hotel this year, so we truly hope that we can make FWA 2015 a really awesome experience for everyone. Hello everyone! After nearly a year and a half of lurking the fandom, I figures it's as good a time as any to finally start conversing with y'all. I'm Mr. Eight-Three-One; I've been a long established Internet persona who simply happens to enjoy looking at furry artwork as a side-interest (my main interests are in the electronics field, especially of the old kind; I love me some 90s computers!). I recall it starting two summers ago when I stumbled upon some adorable little anthro art; I got curious and learned that these were the fabled "furries" I had never known about until now. I had heard some many mixed things about these people, from "oh, they're a thing" to "you don't want to know what they do. You really don't." Frankly, I was a bit puzzled to hear about that latter thing at first; this looked all innocent. How horrible could it possibly be?

Of course I inevitably discovered the bad side of it. As an asexual I especially don't care about it in the least. But really, after what I had already been seeing, it felt a lot like browsing DeviantArt; as long as you look in the right places, you won't find anything atrocious. And what I was finding was one of the most fun-loving, cute, and funny bunches of goofballs having a great time. Every time I browse this subreddit or look at certain artists, it's enough to make me feel better quickly. Whenever I'm feeling down, one of the things I like to do is look at what y'all make. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to be a part of any of this, though; I already have a long established reputation on the Internet as it stands, how will people respond to find out I look at this stuff? Whatifpeoplelaughatmeformysecretloveforhugging?

Then I realized it's all silly. If people really want to change their outlook on me because I look at a bunch of cute, fuzzy little artwork, that's their business. Now, all things considered, I'll probably stay as little more than an observer. I likely won't be going to cons, creating characters (in fact I don't plan on making a fursona at the moment...dunno if that will change), or drawing/commissioning. However, I'll probably start posting comments on this sub a little more frequently and start watching a few artists on DeviantArt (still debating on getting an FA account, given the...ahem...questionable stuff that goes on in the management), and all in all I hope to have a good time.

Oh yeah, and of course I can't go without mentioning one user that finally inspired me to come out of my bubble -- /u/Infamous0823's ever-positive attitude towards everything made me realize every reason I enjoyed lurking the fandom to begin with. After conversing with him via PM, I finally was inspired to officially be a part of the fandom...well, in a way, anyway. Seriously though, you are all amazing. Hope to have a good time! :3

Looking for a comic series, preferably long-medium ones, but don't know where to start. I know some of the big ones (Housepets) and have read one (TwoKinds) but haven't delved into the world of furry webcomics beyond that. Looking for all suggestions! ( the gayer the better!)
