I'm thinking of going to Rainfurrest this year since it's the closest one I know of, and I like making plans early. Making plans too early will leave me stressed and with little options until others start making plans, and starting too late will mean I'm insufficiently prepared. I do have some other questions though.

1: How much money do you try to have for travel, room and board, and con swag?

2: What kind of travel options do you favor once you're in the city but in an overflow hotel? Are there any options provided by the convention, if so what is the cost of it if any?

3: What do you even do at a con and why am I so interested in one despite knowing almost nothing about them?

IDW Publishing (busy, busy people!) have announced that after publishing the new edition of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa (coming this March) they plan to carry one with a whole new series of Disney character comics — each one beginning with “#1″ from IDW, but actually they are continuations of the classic comics published by Gold Key and others. Only now featuring a slew of new artists and creators from around the world: People like Romano Scarpa, Daan Jippes, Casty, Giorgio Cavazzano, and Al Taliaferro. From the IDW web page: “April sees the debut of Uncle Scrooge #1, which will feature the best tales from creators around the world starring the iconic tycoon adventurer. Donald Duck #1 launches in May, Mickey Mouse #1 in June, and in July, Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories will maintain the original numbering and launch with #721 as the first IDW issue.” Each issue will be available in one of two covers: A regular edition, and a special edition illustrated with a Disney Parks theme (Adventureland for Uncle Scrooge #1, EPCOT Center for Donald Duck #4, and so on through the rest of the year).

A quick question: Are non-Furry related discussions allowed? I wanted to post something off-topic, but couldn't find anything one way or the other in the rules, so I thought I should ask first. Also, while anyone would be welcome to contribute, what I wanted to post would only really be relevant to people living in my area.

Whatever the answer, might I suggest adding that to the rules in the sidebar?

So, an update on good ol' Sock... He's still alive, thank god! But, he's still struggling a bit. I tried to get him to tell someone or call a suicide hotline, but he refuses, as he's nervous and scared of talking to people, so I'm stuck. He also tried posting on the last thread, but his comment was deleted. He's under the belief that everyone on /r/furry hates him. I want to prove him wrong.
